The first processors that are based on AMD’s Bulldozer hit the market no sooner than September, but already circulating on the Net The first tests carried out on some engineering samples. The site has published some interesting turkish DonanimHaber results for the eight-core processor, Zambezi, indicated by the abbreviation FX-8130P, which show comparable performance with the Intel Core i7-2600K.
The technical specifications of the CPU, eight core, frequency 3.20 GHz, 8 MB of L2 cache, 8 MB of L3 cache and support for Core 2.0 Turbo. With the latter, in particular, the processor can reach a maximum frequency of 4.2 GHz with 4 active cores and 3.6 GHz with all cores running.
The test configuration included a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5, a video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 and 4 GB of DDR3 memory. The test results were as follows:
3DMark * 2011: P6265 points;
* Cinebench R10 (64 bit): 24,434 points;
* Fritz Chess Benchmark: 29.58 to 14,197 kn / s;
PCMark * 7: 3,045 points;
* Super PI (1M): 19.5 seconds;
* X264: 136.29 fps (1 pass), 45.4 fps (2 pass).
By analyzing this data shows that the Bulldozer FX-8130P has comparable performance to the Core i7-2600K 2011 in 3DMark and Cinebench R10, while the test is faster than Fritz Chess and Super PI. Finally, in x264 test, the CPU would be a little slower than the Core i7 990X.
So AMD has managed to overcome the quad core processor from Intel and to approach the six-core processor, in some areas of use. The advantage over rival Intel will certainly be the price, but it is unlikely that Bulldozer may compete with the next Sandy Bridge and six-and eight-core.
